Breathe Mongolia has been selected as the Lead2030 Challenge Winner for SDG 3 by AstraZeneca and One Young World and the recipient of $50,000USD to implement community workshops in Ulaanbaatar

Breathe Mongolia is pleased to announce that we have been selected as the recipient of $50,000 USD to carry out year-long air pollution mitigation and exposure prevention workshops in Ulaanbaatar. The project funded by AstraZeneca and supported by One Young World will address indoor air quality and carbon monoxide exposure in households with young children. As part of the Lead2030 grant, Breathe Mongolia will receive 12 months of mentorship in developing and implementing the workshops and working closely with Ulaanbaatar communities to reduce their exposure to harmful air pollutants.

Enkhuun Byambadorj and Amarjargal Dagvadorj led Breathe Mongolia’s project proposal to the Lead2030 Challenge. When asked about what winning the challenge means, Enkhuun said, “We were absolutely thrilled to be selected as the winner! This is such an important next step for Breathe Mongolia to continue our mission to arm people with the resources to fight air pollution on the ground.” Enkhuun and Amarjargal will lead the project along with the guidance of Breathe Mongolia’s CEO Azjargal (Aza) Tsogtsaikhan and AstraZeneca mentors.

About the grant, Aza said, “One Young World representative contacted me on LinkedIn directly and invited us to apply and we WON the challenge!” She reminded, “Use your network, be open to opportunities and take action immediately before the door closes.”

One Young World is a forum for emerging young leaders across the world, giving selected young leaders the resources and mentorship they need to “create a better world, with more responsible, more effective leadership.” Lead2030 is a fund for young leaders under the age of 30 with ambitions to create impact aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Breathe Mongolia’s project will further Goal 3: ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.

Breathe Mongolia is honored to be the recipient of this exciting and meaningful opportunity. Additionally, this funding opportunity is essential to the work our organization seeks to do to create a tangible and long-lasting impact on eradicating air pollution in Mongolia.
